Dual Perspectives on Quantum Hall Plateau Transitions.

Quantum Hall plateau transitions are a set of paradigmatic quantum critical points in two dimensions, characterized by an intricate interplay of topology, disorder, and strong correlations. Despite considerable theoretical effort, many of their features remain poorly understood. In this seminar, I will firstly present the experimental motivations and highlight deficiencies in the conventional theoretical approach. Subsequently, I will elucidate how the composite-fermion approach offers a unified framework for all abelian quantum Hall transitions, providing a more promising starting point. We will explore its implications for dynamical critical scaling and super-universality, as well as discuss avenues for future research.
