Searching for Muon to Electron Conversion in a Muonic Atom - Quest for new physics
Yoshitaka Kuno, Osaka University

Muon to electron conversion is a process which violates the conservation of charged lepton flavor. It is highly suppressed in the Standard Model, but many models of new physics beyond the SM predict its sizable rate. A new experiment named COMET under preparation in Japan and the one in the US will start soon in a few years, aiming at improvement of more than four orders of magnitude, with novel highly-intense muon sources. This talk will discuss Its physics motivation, and an outlook on the COMET experiment. And other interesting searches for new physics by using a muonic atom will be also mentioned.
