•POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITION IN EXPERIMENTAL PARTICLE PHYSICS
The Experimental Particle Physics group at the University of Chicago has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral Research Associate to participate in the Double Chooz neutrino oscillation experiment.  This 2-detector experiment, which will be performed at the Chooz Nuclear Power Station in France, will search for the last unmeasured mixing angle (θ13) of the neutrino mixing matrix with almost an order-of-magnitude better sensitivity than previous experiments. The measurement of a nonzero value for θ13 would open the exciting possibility of searching for CP violation in the lepton sector.  The first data collection will begin in 2010.

The successful candidate would be expected to play a leading role in the final construction of the Double Chooz experiment, as well as in the data analysis. Applicants should have experience in both hardware and data analysis.  Preference will be given to recent PhD recipients. Applicants should send a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, and three letters of recommendation to:  Professor Edward Blucher, The Enrico Fermi Institute, University of Chicago, 5640 South Ellis Ave, Chicago, IL 60637 (blucher@hep.uchicago.edu).

Applications will be considered until the position is filled. Review of applications will begin on September 30, 2009.
